WEEK 06

This week I have been learning about strategy and procurement in landscape design, assessing risk, contract types, surveying, quality control, design team roles and responsibilities and landscape consultancy. This knowledge has given me a clearer understanding of the whole process of landscape design and will be a great guide for future practice. Through my study, I found out that when selecting a landscape architect, factors such as request for proposal, bidding and approving the list of consultants are taken into consideration. Also, the form of appointment for procurement/consulting, professional fees and charges, consulting contract conditions, copyrights, limitations and additional warranties are key points to keep in mind. Private clients, government and community groups are all different options when selecting a client, while the selection, management and responsibilities of consultant teams and sub-consultants need to be carefully considered when working with other professionals.
