AWARDING A PROJECT

This week it was our group's turn to share. My main talk was about different bidding methods and their pros and cons.

The main principles of the tender are as follows: Open and Fair Competition；Value for Money；Public Accountability；Transparency in Procedures and Practices.

Tendering methods are mainly categorized into competitive and non-competitive tendering. Non-competitive bidding is negotiated bidding, which means that the client identifies competent contractors to negotiate and sign the contract. Competitive bidding is categorized into open bidding and selective bidding. Open bidding means that it is open to all participants, while selective bidding means that only invited contractors can bid. Selective bidding is also divided into single stage and two stage bidding. Finally, after successful bidding, the client has the possibility of series bidding to continue other projects to a particular contractor.
